According to the 2006 Annual Foster Care Review Board report for South Carolina
53% of the children entering foster care in 2006 entered due to physical neglect.
Physical neglect covers many issues, one of those issues is Food Insecurity.
Food insecurity is defined as a lack of food or the inability to have a stable
food source. To meet this issue head on, G reenville County FPA in a collaborative effort with In His Grip Ministries,Inc. www.inhisgripministries.com is excited to bring a great new program to aid foster care children in Greenville
County and throughout South Carolina as well. IHGM provides the means for GCFPA
to receive Infant/Toddler Food and transports it for us to a local warehouse.
We are then able to provide this resource to our foster care families with young
children and aid them in restoring a child's health and providing food security
for the child as well. This project began in August of 2007 and since that time
GCFPA and IHGM have provided over 8,000 cases of Infant/Toddler food to foster
care children and at-risk children of Greenville County. We are currently proposing
grants to keep this project ongoing.
Thank you IHGM for your efforts and generosity. We look forward to this joint
effort again in the future.
