Self Esteem Building

It is our goal to reach out to all our children regardless of age and abilities and in 2001 established the “Spirit Fund” to benefit all foster children of Greenville County. The “Spirit Fund” is used to enhance the self-esteem of our children through educational, extra curricular, sporting, and fine art activities. The “Spirit Fund” sponsors each child in foster care in Greenville County with $200.00 per calendar year.

We encourage our foster parents to find activities their foster child wants to participate in and apply for the sponsorship monies. Thus far we have been able to approve 100% of the “Spirit Fund” applications since 2001. In 2007, we provided over $41,000 from this fund for Greenville's foster care children. To adequately and effectively sponsor each child in foster we need over $100,000 annually in the Spirit Fund. GCFPA actively particpates in area grant opportunities, fundraisers and volunteering to help aid the Spirit Fund, but we need your help.

Each year the number of foster care children grows and our need for more funding grows with it. For your convenience, you can make a donation to GCFPA online or by mail in order to help support this wonderful program. Please keep in mind that we are using the services of an organization called Just Give to handle our online donation processing. This means that should you use a credit card to make the donation, the transaction that shows up on your credit will be from Just Give and not from the GCFPA. Rest assured, we receive 100% of the funds you donate and all of those donations make their way to the foster children. All of our overhead is paid via membership fees.
